When I met Ladislau Müller, this wonderful and inspiring Rumanian borne composer and pianist, teaching in Växjö (a town in the southern part of Sweden, where I spent my youth) he introduced me to improvisation and composing as well as Keith Jarrett and Chick Corea among others. We also worked with the music of old masters such as Bach and Mozart.
During summer, between semesters, I worked as an organist in different churches.
This brought me after some years to The Royal Collage of Music in Stockholm where I graduated in 1986.
I have been working in Stockholm for over 30 years as a pianist, MD, arranger and composer, in big-bands as well as small groups playing jazz, pop and rock - cooperating with several of the greatest Swedish musicians and performers.
I´ve worked in nearly thirty musical theatre productions, for example the original Swedish production of ”RENT”, where I was the MD and also re-arranged the music.
I have taught jazzpiano, music communication and interpretation at The University of Music in Piteå.
Since 2002, I am the pianist in the jazz pianotrio ”Trio X of Sweden” situated in Uppsala, Sweden. We are especially interested in exploring the sound of jazz piano trio and blend it with music of different genres. We have collaborated with many great musicians and performers, such as NBB, Dan Laurin, Väsen, Svante Henrysson, Elin Rombo, Margareta Bengtsson, Orphei Drängar, just to name a few.
Over the years we have recorded a number of CD’s, among them: ”In dulci jubilo” (Swedish and Scandinavian christmas songs – 2003), ”Trio X of Sweden” (mostly original compositions – 2005) and ”Träumerei”, all available on Spotify.
I have composed for classical chamber ensembles and jazz piano trio several times. My latest piece ”Pyramus and Thisbe”, was performed in Uppsala Concert House (UKK) 2016, by Uppsala Chamber Orchestra and Trio X
of Sweden. Conductor was Paul Mägi, Estonia.
Right before concert in my home town Växjö, January 2013.
